Job summary

Emmett Green is building the Energy Management System to accelerate the energy transition. We seek a capable software engineer to develop backend in Python, frontend in TypeScript/Vue, and manage databases on DigitalOcean.

You will containerize with Docker, deploy and monitor services, and collaborate across teams in Amsterdam and beyond. You bring 2–4 years of software development experience, strong Python, TypeScript, Vue, and database skills.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong experience with Python.
• Experience with TypeScript and Vue.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL).
• Docker/containerized environments experience.
• Hands-on with DigitalOcean or similar cloud provider.
• Familiarity with OpenVPN and networking basics.
• English or Dutch professional communication.

Help build the Energy Management System of Emmett Green to accelerate the energy transition!

You will be part of the EMS team and work on building, maintaining, and scaling modern web applications and infrastructure hosted on DigitalOcean. If you enjoy working across the stack from backend services to frontend interfaces and cloud infrastructure, we'd love to hear from you.

What are you going to do?

• Develop and maintain backend services using Python
• Build responsive frontend applications using TypeScript and Vue
• Design, optimize, and maintain PostgreSQL and MySQL databases
• Containerize applications using Docker
• Deploy and manage applications, droplets, databases, domains, and networking on DigitalOcean
• Configure and maintain secure VPN environments using OpenVPN

What are you bringing?

• HBO/WO working and thinking level
• 2–4 years of professional software development experience (in the energy sector would be a plus)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Strong experience with Python
• Experience with TypeScript and Vue
• Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL and/or MySQL)
• Experience with Docker and containerized environments
• Hands-on experience with DigitalOcean or similar cloud providers
• Experience in maintenance of existing cloud infrastructure
• Familiarity with OpenVPN and basic networking concepts
• Understanding of REST APIs and modern web application architecture
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Professional communication in English or Dutch.

Nice to Have:

• Knowledge of energy markets and optimization methods such as MILP
• Knowledge of cloud security best practices
• Experience managing production environments
