Milkman in The Hague seeks a freelance business development lead to own the front end of the business. You will build and qualify the pipeline, run initial conversations and pitches, and shape proposals with the team.
You will close deals and stay close to delivery to inform future proposals, working with both brands directly and agencies who manage client relationships. You should have a network or the ability to build one quickly, and you must be comfortable speaking with marketing directors
We’re Milkman®, a media production house in The Hague. We build brand universes and then produce them ourselves: commercials, branded content, always-on social, and the paid campaigns that carry it. Brands come to us directly, and agencies come to us to produce work they have already sold. There is a commercial engine behind that, and right now it is one person.
We are looking for a freelancer to take it over and make it a function.
The role: You own the front end of the business. Finding the brands that fit what we make, working out what they actually need, and building the proposal together with the people who will do the work. You are not handed a script and a list to call through. You decide who is worth talking to, and why.
Concretely: build and qualify the pipeline, run the first conversations and the pitches, write and shape proposals, keep the CRM honest, and close. Then stay close to delivery, because what the work teaches us is what the next proposal should say. You work directly with the founder, on two routes: brands directly, and production for agencies who keep their own client relationship. Those are sold differently, and you will learn both.
This is not an SDR contract with a dialling target, and it is not a lead list to work through. You run the whole cycle. What you build becomes the process the next person inherits, which is worth more to you than a commission on someone else’s pipeline.
We are a media production house in The Hague, and we are small on purpose. A handful of brands at a time, because the work we want to make does not survive being spread thin. Even our own portfolio is capped: seven cases, and a new one only goes up by pushing the weakest one off. Most brands buy their marketing in pieces. One company has the idea, another shoots it, a third spends the budget, and something goes missing at every handover. We do all three ourselves, in one team, in our own studio. That is the reason we exist, and it is the argument you get to make in every first conversation: not a better pitch, a shorter chain. It also means you can promise delivery without checking with three other companies first.
Freelance, in The Hague a few minutes from Central Station. Days a week by arrangement, and we would rather you are in the studio part of that time than fully remote. How the fee and the commercial upside are split is part of the first conversation; we would rather build that with you than publish a number we would have to renegotiate.
