Guzco, Amsterdam-based, is hiring a Founding Data Scientist to architect its risk intelligence function from the ground up. You will define questions, hunt patterns, measure risk at scale, and own the data science lifecycle from data sourcing to production monitoring, building systems that move beyond notebooks.

Join a small, high-impact team with autonomy and ownership, shaping product strategy and collaboration with merchants, carriers, and 3PLs.

Qualifications

4+ years of data science experience in fraud, risk, logistics, fintech, or similar domains.
Fluent in Python and SQL with hands-on use of scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
Strong statistical foundation with inference, probability, and rare-event estimation.
Curious and resilient problem solver who can navigate ambiguity and complexity.
Builder mindset focused on shipping practical, working solutions.
Thrives on ownership, autonomy, and collaboration in a small high-impact team.

Responsibilities

Define and drive the full risk, fraud, and intelligence roadmap with the founding team.
Own the data science lifecycle from question framing and data sourcing to production monitoring.
Build measurement frameworks, statistical baselines, and core risk metrics.
Analyze high-dimensional logistics and transactional data to uncover fraud patterns and anomalies.
Build clean, automated systems that go beyond notebooks and run in production.
Translate complex findings into clear actions and product strategy.
