Job summary

Merapar is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to join our team in the Netherlands. This role requires deep understanding of how software works, with the ability to discuss complex topics with clients and drive technical decisions.

You will own delivery from concept to production, while mentoring others and growing into senior technical leadership. You will work directly with clients and their teams, designing software structures, reviewing code, and building proofs of concept.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience in a software design or development role.
• Solid understanding of how software systems are built, connected and maintained.
• Experience working with clients or in a consulting environment.
• Ability to explain technical topics clearly to non-technical people.
• A hands-on mentality: you build and test, not only advise.
• An interest in new technologies, including AI tools and how they can make a team faster.
• Good communication skills in English & Dutch.

Responsibilities

• Work with clients to understand their needs and turn that into clear technical plans.
• Design the technical structure of software solutions.
• Review code and guide developers to make good decisions.
• Build proof of concepts to test ideas before committing to them.
• Debug problems in production and help the team fix them.
• Set up and improve delivery pipelines together with the team.
• Pair up with developers when they need support or guidance.
• Keep all stakeholders well informed and manage expectations throughout the project.
• Take responsibility for the technical direction and keep the team on track.

About the Role

We are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to join us. This is a role for someone who understands how software really works, inside and out. You are just as comfortable talking to a client as you are reviewing code or solving a production problem.

You work directly with our clients and their development teams. You take technical ownership from the start and make sure the right things get built in the right way. This role is ideal for someone with the mindset of an architect, the focus of a product owner, and the drive to grow into a senior technical leadership role.
