Job summary

Florence Innovations is seeking an experienced Forward Deployed Engineer to embed in client organisations, learn their data and processes, and turn vague problems into concrete solutions. You will build robustly, iterate with users, and ensure solutions run in production with ownership kept by you and the client.

We value Dutch professional proficiency and a master's in a technical field, with a senior team and no consultancy hierarchy. Hybrid work and data/AI focus are core to our approach.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a quantitative or technical field, or demonstrably equivalent level.
• Dutch professional proficiency; speak Dutch at a professional level.
• At least three years of relevant work experience in data engineering, BI, ML, or AI.

Job description

You become part of the client's organisation. You take a vague problem down to something you can build, then build it yourself.

About the role

More about the role.

As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you work embedded in the client's organisation. You learn their data, processes, and people, and you take a vague problem down to something concrete. Then you build it yourself, and you are responsible until it is in production and the client can carry it forward on their own. We build with AI-assisted development as standard. Claude Code and similar tools are part of how we work every day. That means working fast without getting sloppy, in short iterations and testing with users early.

Technology & tools
Python and SQL are the foundation of most of the work. Experience with cloud data warehousing (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery), dbt, BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker), orchestration (Dagster, dlt), application development, machine learning, or LLM applications is a plus.

Practical details
You build robustly, so solutions keep working when the data changes and colleagues and the client can take them over. We are looking for someone with a master's degree in a quantitative or technical field, or demonstrably equivalent level. Most of our clients are Dutch companies, so we are looking for someone who can speak Dutch at a professional level.
