Job summary

Aegon Asset Management B.V. in the Netherlands, located at Schiphol Airport or Groningen, seeks a Financial Controller to lead financial reporting & control, VAT administration, payroll accounting, and month-end close within a multinational finance team.

The role requires a BA/MA in business or finance, 3-5 years of experience, English fluency (Dutch preferred), and a hands-on, collaborative mindset to drive improvements and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's (or Master's) degree in business administration, accounting, finance or other relevant studies
• 3-5 years of relevant working experience
• Experience with accounts payable, expense accounting and month-end close activities
• Experience with VAT administration and financial reconciliations
• Understanding of payroll accounting processes and related balance sheet reconciliations
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial controls and Dutch financial regulations
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Strong operational profile with a hands-on mentality
• Fluent in English, and preferably in Dutch, both written and verbal
• Enthusiastic team player with ambition and a can-do attitude

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee accounts payable process, including invoice processing and payment execution
• Act as primary contact for internal stakeholders and suppliers on invoice/payment matters
• Administer VAT processes and ensure compliance with Dutch tax regulations
• Manage payroll accounting activities and related reconciliations
• Oversee accounts receivable activities including invoicing and collections
• Support monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes
• Contribute to process improvements, automation and internal control strengthening
