Job summary

Dialog is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to act as the financial backbone, owning accounting, control, compliance and financial reporting. You will drive a first-time-right close, manage intercompany flows, and deliver management insights to support growth.

You will work collaboratively with Visma Group Finance, Sales and Customer Success, with hybrid work and significant room to automate using tooling and AI. You will evolve into a trusted finance partner for the management team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Finance, Accounting or Control.
• Solid accounting and control foundation: month-end close, reconciliations, intercompany.
• Experience with intercompany flows and group reporting in a multinational structure.
• Translate numbers into management insights and actions.
• Affinity with automation and process improvement via tooling or AI.
• Interest in Finance Business Partnering.
• Good communication skills in English; Dutch is a strong plus.
• Available full-time or at 0.8 FTE; willing to work from Utrecht office 2–3 days a week.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end AP/AR, fixed assets, and billing.
• Ensure timely first-time-right financial entries, with a focus on intercompany transactions.
• Drive a strict, predictable close (Day 4 soft/Day 5 hard).
• Prepare reconciliations, mappings, consolidation steps and audit documentation.
• Deliver reliable management reports including SaaS metrics (MRR, ARR, churn) and support budgeting/forecasting.
• Maintain and improve internal controls, ensure compliance with statutory, fiscal, and corporate policies.
• Own the structured transitions of the duties from the current interim finance professional.
• Optimize finance processes and tools (Younium, Visma.net) to eliminate manual spreadsheet work.
• Partner with Business Operations to identify automation needs and improve data quality.

Job description

The role

You will be the financial backbone of Dialog. As a Financial Controller, you ensure a complete, timely and accurate financial administration for Dialog and contribute to the building of a reliable and scalable Finance function that supports Dialog’s growth. You don’t just deliver numbers, but you proactively support Dialog’s growth.

You report to the Head of Business Operations and work closely with Visma Group Finance, Sales and Customer Success teams. You work for a small company with lots of freedom and opportunity to build, but with the support of Visma through Finance peer groups, safe tools (Claude Cowork, Gemini etc.) and training. You own everything within accounting, control, compliance and financial reporting.

Initially, this is a very hands-on role focused on running operations and optimizing data and processes. However, as Dialog grows, so will the scope of this role. After mastering the execution phase, the focus will shift towards automation using tooling and AI. Next, as you deepen your understanding of our business and build trust through solid execution, the expectation is that you develop into someone who can translate financial reality into meaningful insight. You will become a partner that helps the management team make better decisions.

Who we are looking for

You are someone who likes to get things right. You are structured, detail-oriented, and you take ownership. You are comfortable working independently, but you also know when to involve others. You can translate financial numbers into insights that make sense to the business.

What you bring

• 5+ years of experience in Finance, Accounting or Control. You have closed books many times and know exactly what that takes.
• A solid accounting and control foundation. Month-end close, reconciliations, intercompany, statutory compliance.
• Experience with intercompany flows and group reporting in a multinational structure.
• You can translate numbers into management insights. Not just reporting what happened, but explaining why and what to do about it.
• Affinity with automation and process improvement through tooling or AI
• Interest in Finance Business Partnering
• Good communication skills in English. Dutch is a strong plus.
• Available full-time or at 0.8 FTE, willing to work from our Utrecht office 2 to 3 days a week.

Nice to have

• Experience with Visma.net and a subscription management tool like Younium.
• Experience in a SaaS or subscription-based business. You are familiar with metrics like MRR, ARR and churn and understand what drives them.
• Some exposure to finance business partnering and data analysis.
