Job Description
Are you a hands‑on technical expert looking to take ownership of plant reliability and infrastructure? As the Facilities / Maintenance & EHS Lead, you will be the driving force behind the daily maintenance, repair, and optimal functioning of our manufacturing equipment, utilities, and facility infrastructure.
In this role, you will focus heavily on technical uptime, asset management, and vendor coordination to ensure seamless manufacturing operations at Zoeterwoude and Almere, while providing light technical alignment for our site in Helmond. While maintaining a strong operational and engineering focus, you will also ensure basic site Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance is woven seamlessly into everyday technical workflows. You will act as a key technical influencer across the shopfloor of our 3 sites in the Netherlands, without directly managing a team.
Key Responsibilities

- Asset Reliability: Maximize site operational uptime by developing, implementing, and optimizing preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- On-the-Floor Presence: Maintain a hands‑on presence on the shopfloor to guide technical workflows, solve engineering challenges, and influence teams without direct authority.
- Vendor & Project Management: Act as the primary point of contact for external contractors, equipment manufacturers, and technical suppliers regarding infrastructure upgrades and specialized facility servicing.
- Continuous Improvement: Utilize an Enterprise Lean System (ELS) mindset to identify operational bottlenecks, reduce waste, and improve facility energy efficiency.
- Essential EHS Alignment: Oversee basic environmental, health, and safety compliance for the three sites; lead minor incident investigations (near‑misses, technical releases) and ensure maintenance activities strictly adhere to safe work permits and Dutch legal codes.
- EHS Culture & Advocacy: Demonstrate and champion a strong passion for EHS standards, serving as a proactive safety role model and actively motivating shopfloor teams to embrace a culture of safety and compliance.
- Multi‑site Collaboration: Travel for day visits approximately once every two weeks to support facilities maintenance reviews and alignment at the Almere and Helmond sites.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical technical experience).
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in a facilities maintenance, technical operations, or plant engineering role within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Technical Skills: Strong technical proficiency in mechanical/electrical troubleshooting, automated manufacturing machinery, HVAC, and basic facility utility management.
- Methodologies: Strong continuous improvement mindset with exposure to Lean manufacturing practices (ELS, 5S, TPM).
- EHS Basics: Familiarity with safety codes and basic Dutch workplace safety regulations to ensure all maintenance workflows remain safe and compliant.
- EHS Passion: Demonstrated strong passion for EHS standards; highly motivated to champion workplace safety and naturally influence shopfloor colleagues to do the same.
- Communication & Mobility: Excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English. Willingness to travel bi‑weekly to alternative Dutch locations. Must be based in the Netherlands and authorized to work without sponsorship.
Benefits
- Financial & Health Benefits: Benefit from our PGB Pension Fund.
- Time Off & Flexibility: Enjoy Birth/Parental leave in accordance with Dutch labor law.
- Continuous Development: We invest in your growth with Individual Development Plans, regular Development Discussions, and customized training programs tailored to your needs.
- On‑Site Perks: Take advantage of free parking and a commuting allowance (80km per day by car) / public transport reimbursement.
- Community Engagement: Opportunities to participate in volunteer activities to support Non‑Profit Organizations.
