The European Patent Office (EPO) seeks a Patent Examiner in Electrical Engineering (Electric Power Distribution & Protection). You will assess patent applications in English, French, or German, evaluate novelty and inventive step, and conduct in-depth research using patent databases and scientific sources to identify relevant prior art.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in one technical field relevant to electrical engineering.
• Excellent knowledge (C1) of one official language (English/French/German) with ability to understand the other two.
• Citizenship of a member state of the European Patent Organisation.

Responsabilités

• examine patent applications – including technical documentation and drawings – in one of our official languages
• analyse new inventions to evaluate novelty and inventive step
• conduct in-depth research using digital search tools, databases and patent sources to identify prior art
• apply legal and procedural frameworks to decide on patent grant
• communicate findings clearly with applicants and colleagues
• collaborate with international colleagues
• maintain high-quality standards with rigorous attention to detail
