Ballast Nedam is currently looking for candidates to fill the role of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager for our ongoing projects throughout Europe.

This is a general vacancy announcement; project assignments will be finalized according to operational requirements. Fluency in French is a mandatory requirement.

The role involves:

• Establishing and implementing the company’s HSE Management System on project sites in alignment with company headquarters' standards.
• Ensuring compliance with local legislation, international HSE standards, and management systems at the project level.
• Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting project-specific HSE performance to the HSE Manager at the HQ.

Job Requirements

• A minimum of 15 years of experience in health and safety management, with a focus on site-level operations.
• Demonstrated experience working with engineering/consultancy and construction companies on large-scale international projects.
• Excellent command of English and French.
• Familiarity with local HSE laws and regulations in project countries (preferred).
• Internationally accredited certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH, IASP, or equivalent).
• Comprehensive knowledge of international HSE standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001, OSHA, European Norms).
• Proficiency in MS Office tools.
• Strong planning, coordination, and communication skills for site-based operations.
• Ability to adapt to and work effectively in an international and multicultural environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Implement and oversee the HSE Management System at assigned project sites.
• Conduct internal and external HSE audits to ensure project compliance with the company’s HSE plan, procedures, local legislation, and international standards. Prepare detailed audit reports.
• Participate in project-specific Client HSE meetings, acting as the primary representative for HSE matters.
• Monitor and assess the HSE performance of the assigned project, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
• Prepare and submit periodic HSE reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) for review by company leadership.
• Ensure the project site adheres to all required safety measures and proactively address potential risks.
• Develop and maintain operational documents, such as procedures and instructions, specific to the assigned project and aligned with the company’s management systems.
• Collaborate closely with project teams to integrate HSE objectives into daily site activities.
• Promote a culture of safety through continuous training, awareness programs, and proactive leadership.
