The IT Solutions Architect service is responsible for designing and governing end-to-end solution architectures for IT and Digital initiatives . The service ensures that solutions are architecturally sound, secure, supportable, and compliant with IT standards, principles, and reference architectures.
Operating within the Enterprise Architecture team, the service sits at the intersection of business requirements, project delivery, and enterprise architecture governance, with a strong focus on execution quality, architectural coherence, and reuse across initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Define and maintain end-to-end solution architectures aligned with standards, principles, and reference architectures
- Translate business and functional requirements into robust, scalable, secure, and supportable solution designs across application, data, integration, infrastructure, and security domains
- Evaluate SaaS solutions, cloud services, and technology platforms against architecture, security, integration, data, and compliance requirements
- Support technology qualification, proof-of-concept activities, and vendor architecture assessments
- Review vendor solution designs and challenge non-standard approaches where required
- Actively reuse and adapt existing reference architectures, patterns, and building blocks to ensure consistency and accelerate delivery
- Produce and maintain solution architecture documentation, including High-Level and Low-Level Designs, throughout the initiative lifecycle
- Ensure compliance with the Company Digital initiative execution process and architecture governance framework
- Work closely with Digital Solution Leads, IT Project Managers, and delivery teams across multiple concurrent initiatives
- Participate in, and where relevant lead architecture and technical design workshops during delivery phases
- Ensure architectural decisions, risks, and deviations are documented, traceable, and aligned with EA governance and data platform services)
- Assess platforms, services, and solution components against guidelines and reference architectures
- Provide clear architectural recommendations, including trade-off analysis and design rationale
- Contribute to RFI/RFP activities by defining and reviewing technical and security
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise data architecture, integration standards, master data principles, and information management requirements
- Exposure to industrial and enterprise platforms (AVEVA, IFS, Cognite) is considered a strong asset
- Maintain solution architecture artifacts within the Enterprise Architecture toolset (experience with Bizzdesign HOPEX is a strong plus)
- Promote reuse, standardization, and simplification through architectural patterns, standards, and reference architectures
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, IT delivery teams, and architecture
- Facilitate alignment across application, data, integration, infrastructure, and security
- Act as a trusted architectural advisor during solution design and delivery, particularly in
- The service may produce, as required:
- SaaS Vendors IT Questionnaire Assessments with scoring matrix
- Technical Architecture Document (TAD)
- Cartography in Bizzdesign Hopex solution
