Job summary

Mistral AI is seeking a Technical Lead, Applied AI to drive the technical strategy and delivery of enterprise AI solutions. You will lead project teams of Applied AI Engineers and serve as the primary technical contact from pre-sales to post-implementation, collaborating with research, product, and engineering teams.

You will bridge cutting‑edge AI research with real‑world deployments, ensuring robust, scalable systems aligned with customer needs and Mistral’s vision.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English.
• PhD or Master’s in AI/ML/CS or related field.
• 7+/8+ years in AI/ML with 2+ years in a technical leadership role focused on AI products or enterprise solutions.
• Proven track record leading teams to deliver complex AI projects from prototyping to production.
• Deep expertise in fine‑tuning LLMs, advanced RAG, agentic systems, and NLP at scale.
• Proficient in Python, PyTorch, and modern AI frameworks; cloud platforms and MLOps experience a plus.
• Strong software engineering skills including API design, backend/full‑stack development, and system architecture.
• Excellent technical communication with both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Thrives in fast‑paced, collaborative environments and mentoring talent.

Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on code for critical project components.
• Lead Applied AI Engineer teams with mentorship and guidance.
• Lead pre-sales discussions translating customer requirements into actionable solutions.
• Design and oversee the implementation of complex AI systems including fine‑tuning, RAG, and agentic workflows.
• Drive innovation by evaluating emerging AI trends and best practices for deployment.
• Collaborate with product managers, researchers, and engineers to align customer feedback with the product roadmap.
