Job summary

TECS, a Benelux/European engine and turbine control specialist, seeks an Engineering Team Lead in Hoofddorp to head an engineering department of 14–15 professionals. The role covers project engineering, service engineering and cabinet building with a mix of office and occasional site work.

You will drive delivery, resource planning and customer-focused improvements while mentoring engineers in the UK and Germany and collaborating with the Italian team.

Qualifications

Salary: €4,800 – €7,000 gross per month (depending on experience)

Hours: 40 hours per week

Are you an experienced engineering leader who combines technical depth with a passion for developing people? As Engineering Team Lead, you will head an engineering department of 14–15 professionals at an international specialist in control systems for engines and turbines.

Our client TECS is a leading authorised partner of a global pioneer in engine and turbine control technology, active in the Benelux, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom. They deliver high-quality solutions for refineries, ships, offshore platforms and power generation.

Core activities:

• Distribution: supply of high-end engine and turbine control products
• Repair: maintenance and overhaul of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical control equipment
• Service: on-site service and technical support at customer locations
• Projects: retrofit and new-build projects, modernisation of control systems and system integration

The role

As Engineering Team Lead, you manage the full engineering department: project engineering, service engineering and cabinet building. About half of your team are project engineers based at the office in Hoofddorp. The rest work in service engineering and cabinet building. Your direct reports include a Project Engineering Coordinator and a Service Engineering Coordinator, who handle the day-to-day planning under your direction.

You report locally to the Site Manager and functionally to the Engineering Manager, and you are part of the Management Team. The role is international: you work closely with colleagues in Italy and remotely mentor two engineers in the United Kingdom and Germany who report into the Dutch organisation.

Your responsibilities:

• Lead, coach and develop a team of 14–15 project engineers, service engineers, coordinators and cabinet technicians
• Assign projects, monitor progress and ensure successful delivery
• Maintain resource planning for projects, service and quotations, together with the two engineering coordinators
• Assess the technical feasibility and risks of customer requests and advise Sales and the Site Manager on project acceptance
• Review and approve technical designs, specifications and engineering documentationEnsure engineering work complies with customer specifications, ISO procedures and regulations including CE and ATEX
• Track KPIs for delivery, quality and project performance, and drive continuous improvement
• Conduct performance reviews and grow the technical skills of your team
• Hold technical discussions with major international customers and join project kick-offs
• Work with the Sales Team Lead on technical scoping, cost pricing and customer requirements
• Remotely mentor engineers in the UK and Germany and collaborate with the team in Italy
• Contribute to operational and strategic decisions in the Management Team

Your profile:

• HBO or WO degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Operational Technology
• At least 5 years of experience leading a technical or engineering team
• Hands‑on technical experience with control systems; knowledge of rotating equipment (engines, turbines) is a strong plus
• Experience with resource and capacity planning in an engineering environment
• Familiarity with ISO, CE and ATEX requirements is an advantage
• Strong in stakeholder management and in developing people
• Decisive, with a strong personality and good self-reflection
• Fluent English is a must; Dutch is strongly preferred

Working environment

The role is mainly office-based in Hoofddorp. Occasional customer site visits for technical surveys, commissioning support or meetings are part of the job.
