Job summary

Vinted Group in Amsterdam is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Kafka team to lead an infrastructure engineering group delivering managed services and standards for multiple product teams requiring asynchronous messaging. You will work with Staff Engineer and TPM to translate technical strategy into roadmaps, focus on team health and sustainable delivery, and help grow the team as the domain expands.

The role includes designing workflows, incident response, and ensuring data synchronization

Qualifications

• Experience managing software/infrastructure engineering teams and delivering results.
• Strong goal-setting and performance review experience.
• Ability to work with Staff Engineer and TPM in leadership triad.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Nice-to-have: experience in platform, infrastructure, SRE, or cloud.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of 5+ infrastructure engineers.
• Mentor engineers and support team growth.
• Monitor team health, velocity and workload to prevent burnout.
• Create and own operational procedures, workflows, incident response, and on-call practices.
• Help unblock engineers, resolve cross-team dependencies, and foster collaboration with peer platform teams.
• Participate in management rituals, planning, post-incident reviews, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee hiring as the team expands.
• Turn technical strategy into roadmaps and priorities with Staff Engineer and TPM.
• Communicate with stakeholders to ensure SLA and roadmap visibility.
