Job summary

Super is building the Playstack platform across Europe; we seek a people-and-delivery leader who will own the backend platform and scale its engineering team from 5 to 8+ engineers. You'll partner with two tech leads, hire and grow talent, align stakeholders, and drive platform reliability, observability, and adoption across internal engineering teams while co-owning with Infrastructure/SRE.

Superbet's engineering platform is built on an internal service framework: a set of composable building blocks (service bootstrapping, key-value storage, Kafka streaming, stream processing) with matching Kubernetes operators that provision infrastructure declaratively. Hundreds of production services run on this foundation. You'll lead and grow the team that owns it — from 5 engineers to 8+.

This is a people-and-delivery leadership role. The team has two established tech leads who own technical direction; you own hiring, growth, delivery, and the stakeholder relationships around it.

You will own

• The core service framework: service runtime, storage and streaming SDKs, and their Kubernetes operators
• The platform CLI and developer-facing tooling ergonomics (object storage, search, caching integrations)
• Out-of-the-box observability, alerting, and autoscaling for every service on the platform
• Platform uptime and disaster recovery, co-owned with the Infrastructure/SRE organization

You will

• Hire and grow the team from 5 to 8+ engineers, and establish the seniority mix beneath a strong senior core
• Partner with two tech leads who own technical direction — you own people, hiring, delivery, and stakeholder alignment, without role confusion, and you help make the split between them explicit
• Onboard and settle several recent joiners, and build a growth path for the team's more junior engineers
• Drive platform reliability and adoption — success is measured by how many teams choose to build on it
• Own the working relationship with the Infrastructure/SRE organization, including a clear operational ownership boundary for shared infrastructure

What we're looking for

• Track record of growing a backend team through a step change in size, and of developing engineers into tech leads
• Experience leading platform or infrastructure teams serving internal engineering customers
• Enough technical grounding to hold credible architecture conversations about distributed systems, streaming (Kafka or similar), key-value stores, and Kubernetes. Go experience is valued; depth in our exact stack is not a requirement, since technical direction sits with the tech leads
• Skill at managing alongside strong tech leads without role confusion — including more than one on the same team
• Comfort operating in ambiguity: we are still early in the process so you will be able to define its shape
• Track record of partnering with SRE/Infra organizations on shared production ownership
