Job summary

Sunweb Group is seeking an Engineering Lead in Rotterdam (hybrid) to guide three back-office engineering teams in our connectivity domain. You will coach ~9 developers, align with product goals, and drive engineering excellence.

You’ll collaborate with other Engineering Leads, Software Engineers, Architects and Product Owners to foster growth, improve delivery predictability, and advance technical standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Bachelor's or Master's in CS/Software Eng/IT or equivalent experience.
• Fluency in English.
• Dutch and/or Spanish is a big plus.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and managing several teams.
• Experience working with cross-functional product teams and with Product and Architecture stakeholders.
• Strong skills in people leadership, coaching, stakeholder management and Agile delivery.
• Strong communication and influencing skills, plus experience with change management.
• A lean approach to problem solving and decision making.
• Solid technical knowledge of software engineering and cloud-native architectures, CI/CD, DevOps, observability, security and operational excellence; AI-assisted tools a plus.

Do you enjoy helping engineering teams grow while keeping a close eye on technical quality? Are you a servant leader who leads through influence rather than authority? Then you could be the Engineering Lead we're looking for.

As Engineering Lead, you'll lead and coach three back-office engineering teams in our connectivity domain. Each team has about three developers, plus outsourced developers. You'll make sure the teams deliver predictably and to a high technical standard, that people keep growing, and that the work stays aligned with product goals. You'll be part of a group of six Engineering Leads, working together on team effectiveness, technical improvements and tech alignment across teams.

Location: Sunweb Group office in Rotterdam (Hybrid)

You’ll work closely with other Engineering Leads, Software Engineers, Architects and Product Owners. You’ll also work with technicall stakeholders from Hotels, Transport, Ancillaries and Purchasing.

You hold teams accountable, balance business and technical needs, and are always looking for the next step to improve.

What you bring

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

• Fluency in English

• Dutch and/or Spanish is a big plus

• Proven experience leading engineering teams, and you're comfortable managing several teams at once

• Experience working with cross-functional product teams and with Product and Architecture stakeholders
