Job summary

TNO is seeking an MSc student for a 9-month graduation internship focusing on coupling energy-system optimisation with transmission grid models in DIgSILENT PowerFactory. You will develop a multi-scale workflow from system-level optimisation to detailed network analysis and assess siting of large-scale generation with respect to congestion and reinforcement needs.

Qualifications

• Background in electrical power systems and energy systems modelling.
• Experience with scripting and automation (Python preferred).
• Familiarity with load-flow and contingency analysis.

Responsibilities

• Build and verify a transmission grid model in PowerFactory.
• Develop automated Python interface to map scenarios to the network model.
• Run load-flow and N-1 contingency analyses and feed results back into optimisation.
