ENGIE Zwolle seeks an Energy Optimization Engineer to join the SPM Flex Team. You will design smart optimization algorithms, build scalable APIs and data pipelines, and orchestrate real-time control of flexible energy assets.

Based in a hybrid setup, you will work at the intersection of software engineering, data science, and energy markets, leveraging cloud platforms and AI to drive reliable, sustainable energy systems for future grids.

Qualifications

• Master's degree level of thinking and working in Econometrics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
• Extensive experience with Python and production-grade, OO code.
• Experience with data engineering and analytics tools such as Polars, PySpark, and SQL; dbt, DuckDB, or Snowflake are a plus.
• Familiar with Git, unit/integration testing, and CI/CD; IaC such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM is a plus.
• Experience in energy market or strong affinity with energy sector dynamics.
• Strong problem-solving and ability to translate challenges into scalable solutions.
• Proactive mindset and willingness to share knowledge and improve engineering practices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in Dutch or English.

Responsibilities

• Develop smart optimization algorithms enabling flexible energy assets to be used efficiently.
• Handle real-time control and orchestration translating market signals and grid constraints into optimal strategy.
• Develop and maintain products, APIs, data pipelines, and services for reliability and scalability.
• Ensure applications are scalable and robust through monitoring, alerting, and self-healing processes.
• Bridge technology and business, translating complex challenges into pragmatic solutions.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and professionalization of the team.
