EMEA Research & Development Senior Subject Matter Expert – Medium Voltage Standards & Applications
We are looking for an experienced Senior Subject Matter Expert in Medium Voltage (MV) standards and applications to join our Electrical sector in the EMEA region. The successful candidate will be based in Hengelo, The Netherlands, with fully remote options for candidates outside the region. The role reports to the Manager for Medium Voltage Systems and carries the highest level of authority within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Lead research, technology development, and technical demonstrations as a domain expert.
- Serve as project lead, ensuring technical flow, milestones, and mentoring of team members.
- Contribute to value‑proposition development, government proposal preparation, and project execution.
- Build business relationships, secure resources and funding, and cultivate external partnerships.
- Represent the company at international committees and symposia, giving lectures and publishing scientific papers.
- Generate IP through disclosures and patents; apply appropriate processes, systems, and tools.
- Mentor junior staff and coordinate cross‑division collaboration.
Qualifications
- PhD or Master’s in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in research, development, and design of technology solutions.
- Deep knowledge of distribution grids, IEC MV assembly products, transformers, and applicable codes and standards.
- Expertise in grid protection & control, grid resilience, substation automation, or related IEC standards.
- Experience in academic and industry research, field or lab testing of operational technologies in power grids.
- Ability to develop new research programs and collaborate across disciplines to achieve strategic goals.
- Experience in proposal development for government‑funded programs (DoE, DoD, etc.).
- Strong leadership and communication skills, fluent in English; Dutch language is bonus but not required.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of working time.
