Job summary

AME (Applied Micro Electronics), based in Brainport Eindhoven, is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop and test software for embedded Linux systems and microcontrollers. You will work with Yocto, embedded C, and contribute across the full software lifecycle from requirements to production.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in embedded software, strong debugging skills, and experience with SPI/I2C/UART/CAN, Linux kernel, bootloaders, and cybersecurity practices.

Qualifications

• Degree in CS, EE or embedded systems with 5+ years in embedded software.
• Hands-on experience with embedded Linux using Yocto.
• Strong embedded C programming and microcontroller experience.
• Experience with SPI, I2C, UART, CAN and low-level debugging.
• Fluent English; Dutch a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and test software for embedded Linux systems and microcontrollers.
• Build Yocto-based Linux distributions with recipes and BSPs.
• Configure bootloaders, kernels, drivers and services.
• Develop embedded C software for microcontrollers and peripherals.
• Debug software and hardware interactions with proper tools.
• Participate in requirements, design, estimates and risk assessments.
• Own work packages through release and communicate progress.
• Improve quality via code reviews, testing, documentation, CI.
• Incorporate cybersecurity across the product lifecycle (secure boot, updates).
• Collaborate with electronics engineers, architects, managers and customers.
