Job summary

Mandarin Oriental Conservatorium is seeking a Duty Engineer to join the Engineering team in Amsterdam. You will resolve technical failures, perform inspections, and assist guests with technical concerns to ensure comfort.

The role involves troubleshooting plumbing, maintaining lighting, and coordinating with third parties on renovations, with 8-hour shifts and reporting to the Engineering Manager. A strong, proactive mindset is required in a historic, luxury hotel setting.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of work experience in a similar role (preferably in hotels).
  • Fundamental knowledge of electrical installations and plumbing.
  • Ability to work independently and learn on the job.
  • A good level of English and flexibility to work shifts (days/evenings, weekdays/weekends).

Responsibilities

As Duty Engineer

you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • To resolve technical failures, replace faulty parts and perform complete technical inspections within the hotel.
  • To directly help hotel guests, addressing their technical concerns promptly and ensuring their comfort.
  • To troubleshoot plumbing problems, repair kitchen equipment, manage various installations, and maintain lighting systems.
  • To support ongoing renovation efforts, collaborating with third-party companies for major repairs and conducting preventive maintenance throughout the hotel.

As a duty engineer you will work in various 8-hours shifts and report directly to the Engineering Manager.

As a small team, we ensure the hotel maintains its pristine appearance, making it look as luxurious and inviting as the day it opened. Our tasks are diverse—one moment you are working on the pool, the next you are renovating a complete guest room.

As Duty Engineer We Expect From You
  • 2-3 years of work experience in a similar role (preferably in hotels);
  • Fundamental knowledge of electrical installations and plumbing;
  • Ability to work independent and learn on the job;
  • A good level of English;
  • Flexibility to work shifts during both days and evenings, on weekdays and weekends.
