Job summary

The Amstel Hotel is seeking a Director of Human Resources to shape people strategy, culture, and growth for colleagues, ensuring exceptional experiences for guests. As a member of the Executive Committee, you will combine strategic leadership with a hands-on approach to create an environment where people feel valued and empowered.

You will lead a small HR team, partner with the General Manager and department heads to develop talent, succession planning, and a strong colleague experience.

Qualifications

• A degree in Hotel, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Proven experience in a senior HR leadership role in luxury hospitality or a high-end service environment.
• Strong knowledge of Dutch employment law and employee relations.
• Strategic mindset with a practical, hands-on approach aligned to business objectives.
• Ability to influence leaders and navigate organisational change.
• Passion for talent development, succession planning, engagement, and culture.
• Strong analytical skills to translate data into insights.
• Excellent Dutch and English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Execute HR strategy aligned with business objectives to strengthen culture and engagement.
• Lead a team (1 HR Supervisor, 2 HR Specialists) and partner with the General Manager and Heads of Department.
• Attract, select, and retain talent while building employer branding.
• Oversee the colleague journey from onboarding to offboarding and recognition.
• Provide guidance on Dutch employment law, employee relations, performance management, and HR policies.
• Drive engagement, wellbeing, and performance through initiatives and data-driven decisions.
• Oversee payroll coordination, budgeting, and HR reporting to improve processes.
