Job summary

TNO is offering an internship focused on teaching a drone to plan its flight path for improved 3D reconstructions. You will work with 3D vision, open‑vocabulary vision‑language models, and active perception, building a planning pipeline and validating it in simulation and on real hardware where possible.

The role targets Master’s students in AI, CS, Robotics or related fields, with strong Python skills and an interest in publishing results.

Qualifications

• Master’s program in AI/CS/Robotics with a solid foundation in computer vision and ML.
• Strong Python skills are important.
• Experience with 3D vision (point clouds, depth, camera geometry) and vision-language models is a plus, as is robotics/simulation tools.

Responsibilities

• Design a coverage‑planning strategy for drone flight paths to improve 3D reconstructions.
• Code, run flight experiments, and iterate on signals that predict reconstruction quality.
• Collaborate with researchers to integrate 3D vision, VLMs, and active perception into the planning pipeline.
