Job summary

TBAuctions is seeking a Director of Data to own the company's data platform from ingestion to analytics, ensuring secure, scalable end-to-end data flows. You will lead the Data Platform Engineering team and set engineering standards while collaborating with Product, Security and Architecture.

In this role you drive architectural decisions, champion a Medallion architecture, and guide the roadmap to enable AI workloads and reliable batch and streaming pipelines across the organization.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in Data Engineering or Data Platform roles, including 3+ years leading engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of Apache Spark internals and ELT/ETL pipelines.
• Experience designing batch and streaming architectures (Lambda/Kappa) with exactly-once semantics.
• Experience with Databricks and data modeling frameworks like Kimball.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction of the data platform, including its infrastructure and budget.
• Develop a roadmap balancing business priorities with long-term investments.
• Lead ingestion and integration of data from internal platforms, SaaS and ERP/CRM systems.
• Develop and maintain Medallion architecture and gold layer for BI needs.
• Implement governance: metadata, cataloguing, lineage, access controls.
• Enable ML/AI workloads via scalable pipelines and high-quality datasets.
• Lead and develop the Data Platform Engineering team, setting engineering standards.
