Job summary

Prologis is seeking a senior European energy procurement lead to drive the power strategy for data center projects across Europe. You will manage interconnection processes, negotiate tariffs and PPAs, and coordinate with EPCs, consultants, and energy partners.

The role requires deep experience in energy project analysis, European markets, and regulatory awareness, with travel up to 40%. English required; other European languages are a plus.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of electric utility experience in transmission planning, substation development or engineering, distribution system planning, interconnection of large-load projects, or independent power producers.
  • Experience analyzing energy projects.
  • Experience negotiating interconnection agreements and related contracts with utilities and contractors.
  • Experience working on grid-connected projects in Europe (UK, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Poland, Nordics).
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time.
  • Experience with European power markets and country-specific regulations preferred (German/Polish/Nordic).
  • Experience negotiating tariff rates, PPAs, and energy infrastructure contracts; evaluating new energy sourcing opportunities.
  • Familiarity with cable routing, permitting or entitlement processes, data center development, and TSO/DNO operations in Europe.
  • Working proficiency in English; additional European languages preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or quantitative field preferred, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the European utility and power procurement strategy for data center projects.
  • Manage and negotiate the full power procurement and interconnection process from feasibility through grid connection and tariffs.
  • Coordinate utilities, EPC firms, consultants, and Owner’s Engineers for high- and medium-voltage power infrastructure.
  • Evaluate sites and acquisitions for data center development based on grid power, infrastructure readiness, and project economics.
  • Monitor EU energy regulatory and policy developments.
  • Represent Prologis with utilities, TSOs, regulators, and energy partners.
  • Build relationships with regional energy stakeholders.
  • Support development, finance, legal, and marketing with financial modelling and contract coordination.

Job description

  • Lead the European utility and power procurement strategy for data center projects
  • Manage and negotiate the full power procurement and interconnection process from feasibility through grid connection, energy supply, tariffs, and related contracts
  • Coordinate utilities, EPC firms, consultants, and Owner’s Engineers to deliver high- and medium-voltage power infrastructure
  • Evaluate buildings, land banks, and acquisitions for data center development based on grid power, fiber access, infrastructure readiness, project economics, and onsite or temporary power options
  • Monitor national and EU energy regulatory, policy, and technology developments
  • Represent Prologis with utilities, transmission system operators, regulators, consultants, and other energy partners
  • Build and maintain relationships with regional energy stakeholders
  • Support development, finance, legal, and marketing activities through financial modelling, contract coordination, utility strategy, and power-related transaction input
Requirements
  • 7+ years of electric utility experience in transmission planning, substation development or engineering, distribution system planning, interconnection of large-load projects, or independent power producers
  • Experience analyzing energy projects
  • Experience negotiating interconnection agreements and related contracts with utilities and contractors
  • Experience working on grid-connected projects in one or more of the following regions: UK, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Poland, or the Nordics
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time
  • Experience with European power markets and country-specific regulations, including German, Polish, or Nordic power markets preferred
  • Experience negotiating tariff rates, power purchase agreements, and/or energy infrastructure contracts and evaluating new energy sourcing opportunities or technologies preferred
  • Familiarity with cable routing, permitting or entitlement processes, data center development, and TSO/DNO operations across European markets preferred
  • Working proficiency in English and additionally one or more European languages preferred
  • Willingness and capability to leverage emerging technology, automation, and AI tools
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, applied science, economics, statistics, or another quantitative discipline preferred, or equivalent experience
