Job summary

Ore Energy, Amsterdam, is seeking a Product Development Engineer to lead air-processing and gas-management systems for long-duration iron-air batteries. You will bridge process concepts with mechanical design, building test rigs and validating components in a fast-paced hardware scale-up.

The role requires hands-on DAC experience, strong prototyping skills, and the ability to communicate clearly with multidisciplinary battery teams.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with gas-purification or Direct Air Capture (DAC) processes.
• Strong understanding of mass balance, flow dynamics, and thermodynamics.
• Experience in lab prototyping and mechanical testing in a hardware scale-up environment.

Responsibilities

• System Design & Sizing: design active air-treatment, gas-separation, and conditioning subsystems; perform mass balances and flow calculations.
• Component Selection: specify and source sorbents, filters, membranes, reactors, valves, pumps, and blower systems.
• Hands-on Prototyping: build and wire lab-scale proof-of-concept units and pilot-scale air-handling rigs.
• Experimental Testing: design campaigns to evaluate adsorption capacity, pressure drop, regeneration behavior, and energy efficiency.
• Root-Cause Analysis: diagnose issues, trace failure modes, and translate data into design improvements.
• Subsystem Integration: collaborate with mechanical, electrochemical, and controls teams to integrate air systems with modules and sensors.
• Technical Documentation: document architecture requirements, P&IDs, concepts, and validation outcomes.
