Job summary

Levy Professionals is seeking an experienced BI/Data Warehouse Developer to design, build and optimise a datawarehouse layer behind management reporting and financial analysis for a major Dutch bank. You will craft complex SQL, build scalable data models, and ensure high performance in a large enterprise environment.

Based in Amsterdam, you will collaborate with business analysts, data engineers and a product owner, turning stakeholder needs into robust data products.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in BI/Data Warehouse development or closely related role
• Strong SQL with performance tuning and engine behavior understanding
• Solid data modelling experience, star schema design and appropriate extensions
• Experience with datawarehouse environments, Azure Synapse Preferred
• Git-based development workflow and modern DevOps practices
• Agile or Scrum in multidisciplinary teams
• Structured, analytical and proactive approach

Responsibilities

• Design, build and optimise datawarehouse solutions for reporting and analytics
• Write and tune complex SQL for data processing and transformation
• Build and maintain data models, starting with star schema
• Investigate and optimise query performance and engine behavior
• Translate business needs into data products for stakeholders
• Work in a modern DWH environment, preferably Azure Synapse Dedicated SQL Pools
• Collaborate with analysts, data engineers and product owner and share BI/build knowledge

You work alongside business analysts, data engineers and a product owner, and you're the one people ask when a model or a query needs a second opinion.

What you'll do

Complex SQL, solid data models, and query performance that holds up at enterprise scale. You work alongside business analysts, data engineers and a product owner, and you're the one people ask when a model or a query needs a second opinion.

• Design, build and optimise datawarehouse solutions for reporting and analytics
• Write and tune complex SQL for processing and transforming data
• Build and maintain data models. Star schema first, something heavier when the case calls for it
• Dig into query performance and SQL engine behaviour
• Turn what business stakeholders need into working data products
• Work in a modern DWH environment, preferably Azure Synapse Dedicated SQL Pools
• Use Git and normal DevOps practice
• Coach colleagues and share what you know about BI development and SQL

What they ask

• At least 5 years as a BI Developer, Data Warehouse Developer or something close to it
• Strong SQL, including performance tuning and a real understanding of engine behaviour
• Solid data modelling experience, star schema design, and the judgement to know when you need more than that
• Experience with datawarehouse environments, Dedicated SQL Pools preferred
• Git and a modern development workflow
• Agile or Scrum, working in a multidisciplinary team
• Structured, analytical, proactive
