Job description

Join us and help us structure the global web

If you’re a DevOps engineer based in or around Groningen, this is an opportunity that doesn’t come along often. You’ll work with hundreds of machines on our own bare-metal infrastructure, and we keep adopting new technology to make everything run more smoothly. If you love what you do and communicate well, you’ll fit right in.

What you’ll do

We’re looking for a DevOps engineer to work closely with our development team. Together you’ll keep our platform running at its best: reliable, consistent and ready to grow. We run everything on our own bare-metal infrastructure, so you’ll work hands-on with Kubernetes, automate the setup and management of our systems, and help keep the data stores and services behind our product healthy. Your work will directly affect how stable and fast our product is.

Because we build our own product, you’ll have freedom in how you approach parts of your work. We care more about precision and quality than about speed and deadlines.

Who you are
What you bring

You know your way around production infrastructure and enjoy keeping complex systems running smoothly. You don’t need to tick every box below (especially if you are a quick leaner), but you need to know what you are doing.

  • You're a medior or senior engineer with at least 3 years of experience in DevOps or infrastructure

    • You have hands-on experience running and maintaining Kubernetes clusters in production

      • You're proficient with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible

        • You're comfortable working on bare-metal infrastructure. You don't need hardware knowledge; we handle the physical side

          • Experience with Elasticsearch, ideally running and scaling clusters, is a strong plus

            • Experience administering MySQL and/or PostgreSQL is a strong plus

              • Experience with RabbitMQ or other message brokers is a bonus

                • A deeper understanding of networking (routing, DNS, load balancing, troubleshooting) is a bonus

                  • You're solution-oriented, analytical, and critical of your own work

                    • You're legally allowed to work in the Netherlands

What we offer

We're a young, dynamic tech company, and you'll be part of a smart, ambitious team on a mission to structure the global web. You’ll get all the benefits of working for an agile scale-up—a relaxed work environment, the possibility to work some days from home, easy-going colleagues, and freedom in your work.

Additionally, we offer you:

  • A competitive salary based on your experience

    • 25 days of paid annual leave*

      • A holiday allowance

        • A good pension insurance

        • An annual budget of €1.200 to spend on professional or personal development

        • The best hardware of your choice: Apple or Linux

        • Hybrid work model: a mix of working from home and in the office

        • A lounge room, an in-office pool table, and a fully equipped canteen

        • Healthy and delicious buffet breakfast and lunch, and a full refrigerator in the office

        • Everything you need to work from home: a screen, keyboard, and mouse

        • €78 budget for a lease bike including maintenance**

          • A €50 internet reimbursement*

          • A monthly Thuisbezorgd budget of €50 to enjoy a meal with your colleagues or family*

          • A monthly sports budget of €40 to stay healthy and in shape: get a gym membership or buy a pair of new sport shoes*

          • A mobile phone and a monthly mobile phone subscription reimbursement of €35*

          • A compensation fee of €2 per day when you work from home

          • Fun events with colleagues: 4 Mijl van Groningen, Startup Weekend Groningen, Thursday Drinks, Board Game Nights, Pub Quizzes, Pizza Knowledge Sessions, Ping-Pong Tournaments and our memorable Dataprovider.com Outings

Dataprovider.com transforms the internet into an ever-growing structured database

The web is the world’s greatest information source- literally and figuratively. It contains more valuable information than all annual reports and trend analyses rolled into one. However, the web is also the greatest source of information chaos: it is difficult to extract qualitative data.

Founded in Groningen in 2012, Dataprovider.com has been structuring relevant digital actions into concrete insights that are used worldwide by leading organizations such as PayPal, Statistics Netherlands, United Nations, GoDaddy, Mollie, Takeaway.com and the investment industry. We’re growing fast, and we’re always on the lookout for new talent!

Our team

Our team consists of a wide range of professionals: data scientists, data support engineers, developers, designers, account managers, and more. It’s a blend of seasoned data engineers and developers who have been working here for years, and ambitious graduates who joined the team while they were students and become an inseparable part of Dataprovider.com ever since.

Our motto is Work hard, work together, and help each other out, always. When we aren’t working hard, we’re eating ice cream (anytime of the day or year) and playing board games, ping-pong, or American pool.
