Job summary

The Prinses Máxima Centrum for Pediatric Oncology in Utrecht seeks an experienced veterinarian to become the designated veterinarian for our SPF mouse facility. You will join the Animal Welfare Body, advise on anesthesia and welfare, and help implement the 3Rs in experimental design.

There is an option to expand the role with internal supervision tasks, offering broader responsibility within the facility and opportunities to train staff and auditors.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in veterinary medicine with Dutch registration.
• Post-graduate training/experience as designated veterinarian is required or preferred.
• Experience in Animal Welfare Body and oncology is an asset.
• Ability to advise researchers, staff, and management; service-oriented attitude.

Responsibilities

• Act as designated veterinarian and be a full AWB member with biweekly meetings.
• Advise on anaesthesia, analgesia, perioperative care, euthanasia and 3Rs.
• Develop and improve best practices for researchers and staff.
• Monitor health programs with the attending veterinarian and supervise procedures.
• Conduct regular facility visits and train staff; participate in audits with supervision scope.
