Job summary

Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology seeks an experienced veterinarian to serve as the designated veterinarian for its SPF mouse facility, contributing to animal welfare and research quality at a top pediatric oncology institute in Utrecht.

The role includes membership in the Animal Welfare Body, advising on anesthesia, analgesia, perioperative care, euthanasia and 3Rs, with visits to the facility and staff training. Optional expansion with internal supervision broadens scope and audits.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in veterinary medicine and Dutch license.
• Post-graduate training/experience as designated veterinarian, preferably for mice.
• Experience in Animal Welfare Body is a plus; oncology experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Advise AWB on anaesthesia, analgesia, perioperative care, euthanasia and 3Rs in experimental design.
• Monitor health and welfare of mice in the facility; supervise animal procedures; train staff.
• Collaborate with AWB and internal supervisor to implement best practices and health monitoring.
