Job summary

Seaway7 is seeking a Deputy Vessel Superintendent to support Zoetermeer-based operations for one of our Heavy Lift vessels. You will work closely with the Vessel Superintendent to keep assets in safe, compliant condition and within class, ensuring availability and efficiency.

You will drive HSSEQ culture, coordinate maintenance with the Region, and oversee budgets, major works, and crew planning to meet project requirements and vessel performance goals.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Promote a robust safety culture onboard assets and align with HSSEQ activities.

• Schedule preventive and corrective maintenance with minimal project impact.
• Prepare, propose and manage a budget for asset OPEX.
• Plan and execute major works including dry docking and CAPEX.
• Organise engineering support for capacity growth CAPEX and costing.
• Contribute to maintenance procedures, standards and policies.
• Present technical, financial and safety reviews monthly and as needed.
• Manage vessel spares inventory within budgetary constraints.
• Maintain a cost-effective marine crew with Offshore Crewing support.
• Liaise with Project Managers and Operations Coordinators on vessel needs.

Job description

The Deputy Vessel Superintendent (DVS) will work closely alongside the Vessel Superintendent (VS) who is accountable for maintaining their assigned asset(s) in a safe condition and in compliance with its specification and Class, ensuring maximized availability, reliability and efficiency of the asset(s), her equipment and crew, whilst adhering to approved budgets.

This role will be based in the Zoetermeer office supporting one of our Heavy Lift vessels.

The DVS will help drive and promote HSSEQ behaviour on the vessel.

The role is accountable for contributing to the development of all Subsea7’s policies and procedures.

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSSEQ culture within Subsea7/Seaway7, and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSSEQ codes and practices.

What will you be doing?

• To promote a robust safety culture and set a clear example through safe practices onboard the assigned assets, and, when requested, align with, back, and support all HSSEQ activities managed by the assigned Region.
• Promote and pursue Safety& Quality Predictable performance in all aspects of their work and their teams, meeting Company KPIs.
• In close collaboration with Captain and Chief Engineer execute IMO, Class, Flag and ISM responsibilities that lie with F&E and ensure the vessel remains within Class and Flag state requirements as well complies with relevant industry standards and guidance, in particular IMCA.
• Ensure that preventive and corrective maintenance are scheduled in close coordination with the assigned Region’s Operations Manager for minimum impact on projects, and maintenance is performed efficiently and in the most cost effective manner within budget and in accordance with the applicable requirements and the standards set by the Company.
• To prepare, propose and manage a budget for the assets’ OPEX (Crew, M&R, consumables, Logistic, Onshore support etc.)
• To manage the planning, preparation and execution of major works, such as dry docking and Capex works, ensuring timely definition of scope of work and schedules.
• To organise engineering and technical support required for the technical definition of the capacity growth CAPEX as well as costing of their execution.
• To contribute toward improving the maintenance procedures, standards and policies.
• Prepare and present technical, financial and safety reviews on a monthly basis in relation with OPEX activities and on ad-hoc basis for Major Technical Stops, Dry Dock and CAPEX projects.
• Ensure that vessel’s inventory for spares and consumables is managed effectively, utilising critical spare part assessment and operated within budgetary requirements.
• With the support of Offshore Crewing, permanently maintain and adjust an adequate and cost-effective marine crew and team of technicians, as assigned to their vessels.
• Liaise with internal Clients (Project Managers, Vessel Operational Managers, Vessel delivery Managers and Operations Coordinators) regarding vessel operational matters in order to ensure vessel continues to meet their requirements.

• Experience in similar positions with Pipelay, Heavy / Light Construction, IRM, Cable lay or DSV vessels.
