Job summary

Empiric is seeking a DB2 DBA for a Public Sector client on a long-term B2B / freelancing contract. The role focuses on large-scale Db2 LUW environments, DPF/MPP architectures, and containerised Db2 on OpenShift with Kubernetes. English language required, Dutch-desirable.

Initial contract till end of year with extensions likely. This is a critical, high-availability database leadership position with immediate interview availability.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with IBM Db2 LUW in large-scale, high-concurrency enterprise environments.
• Strong experience across Db2 v10.5-v12.1.5.
• Expert knowledge of Db2 DPF / MPP architectures, including multi-partition environments, distribution keys & co-located joins, table partitioning, and WLM tuning.
• Hands-on experience deploying and managing containerised Db2 on Red Hat OpenShift (OCP).
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, Db2 Operators and Helm charts.
• Advanced SQL and query performance tuning with EXPLAIN analysis and SQL optimisation.
• Expertise in Db2 memory optimization and performance diagnostics.
• Experience with db2diag.log, db2pd and MON_GET diagnostic tools.
• Automation and database lifecycle management using Shell scripting, Python and Ansible.
• Troubleshoot complex database performance, scalability and production issues.
• Support and optimise highly available, enterprise-scale Db2 environments.

Responsibilities

• Deploy Db2 on OpenShift and manage related Kubernetes resources.

Amazing Opportunity to join one of our biggest consultancies for a large scale migration project as a DB2 DBA. It's a unique opportunity to join a prestigious client on a critical large-scale project and take ownership over a highly regulated database.

Contract: Initially EOY + Extensions.

Languages: English (Dutch Desirable)

To be successful in this role you must have proven expertise using DB2 LUW.
