Job summary

ALTEN Nederland is seeking a Medior Data Engineer in the Netherlands to design and maintain data pipelines using Databricks and Python. You will optimize ETL/ELT processes in Azure or AWS, collaborate within Agile/DevOps teams, and contribute to scalable, reliable data platforms.

A strong background in CS and data governance will help you succeed. You will work across Databricks Jobs, Unity Catalog, and Asset Bundles, with a focus on data-driven analytics and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, CS, Software Eng. or related field
• 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar
• Strong Databricks experience (Jobs, pipelines, Unity Catalog, Asset Bundles)
• Solid Python programming with PySpark and Pandas
• Experience in data-governed environments with CI/CD, Git, and automation
• Background in software development or CS is a plus
• Affinity with maths and statistics
• Familiarity with Scrum, Agile and DevOps ways of working
• Proactive, positive and eager-to-learn mindset
• Fluency in English; Dutch is a bonus

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain data pipelines and jobs using Databricks
• Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines in Azure and/or AWS
• Work with Databricks Jobs, pipelines, Unity Catalog and Asset Bundles
• Collect, clean, transform and load data for analytics and reporting
• Develop data solutions using Python, PySpark and Pandas
• Apply engineering practices including unit testing and code reviews
• Work in a data governance environment with CI/CD and Git integration
• Collaborate in Agile/Scrum and DevOps teams
• Contribute to optimization of data platforms for performance, scalability and reliability
