Job summary

Riverflex is seeking a Freelance Data Engineer to own and evolve the data platform for a Dutch consumer brand from Amsterdam. You will manage the data models, pipelines, and architecture in Google Cloud Platform, with BigQuery at the core.

You will collaborate directly with marketing and digital stakeholders, teaching others and elevating engineering practices across the team. You will deploy ML models, monitor production pipelines, and ensure data quality and governance.

Qualifications

• Must have strong commercial experience as a data engineer on Google Cloud Platform with deep BigQuery knowledge.
• Hands-on expertise in dbt for data modelling and transformation.
• Production experience with Airflow or equivalent orchestrator.
• Practical GA4 experience, including working with the raw BigQuery export.
• Experience with Google Tag Manager and digital analytics implementation.

Responsibilities

• Own the data platform and pipelines on Google Cloud, with BigQuery at the centre.
• Develop and maintain transformation models in dbt.
• Design, run and monitor orchestrated pipelines in Airflow.
• Write production Python for ingestion, transformation and automation.
• Own GA4 implementation, data exports to BigQuery, and analytics governance.
• Mentor and raise engineering practice, documenting everything to avoid single points of failure.
