Job summary

Basic-Fit is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to join the central Data Platform Team in Hoofddorp. You will build and optimize batch and streaming pipelines in Databricks, collaborate with analysts to improve self-service reporting, and automate daily tasks using AI while migrating legacy pipelines to a modern Databricks platform.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Databricks (1+ year)
• Understanding of batch vs streaming data processing
• Strong SQL, PySpark, and Python skills
• Experience building data pipelines (e.g. with Azure Data Factory)
• Awareness of data quality, governance, and scalability
• Interest in AI and building agents; willingness to automate
• Proficient in English communication
• Experience with Power BI or reporting tools is a plus

This Is What Your Role Looks Like

You’ll join the central Data Platform Team, working on the foundation of Basic-Fit’s data landscape.

In a typical week, you might:

• build batch and streaming pipelines in Databricks
• continuously improving Databricks, keeping up with the latest technologies
• collaborate with analysts to improve self-service reporting
• automate day-to-day work by leveraging the power of AI
• migrate legacy pipelines to a modern Databricks platform
• optimize performance, cost, governance, and reliability
• support designing data models that are directly consumed in Power BI

This is not a “keep-the-lights-on” role. You’ll actively shape:

• scalable data architecture (Lakeflow Connect, Databricks Apps etc.)
• AI and automation to improve data quality and usability
• self-service analytics across the business
• the future direction of our data platform

Who Are You?

You don’t need to tick every box. You will thrive here if most of this sounds familiar:

• Hands-on experience with Databricks (around 1+ year)
• Curiosity about newest Databricks features (dashboards, apps etc.)
• Understanding of batch vs. streaming data processing
• Strong skills in SQL, PySpark, and Python
• Experience building data pipelines (e.g. with Azure Data Factory)
• Awareness of data quality, governance, and scalability
• Experience and curiosity towards AI and building agents
• Comfortable communicating in English
• Experience with PowerBI or any other reporting tool is a plus
