Job summary

Empiric in the Netherlands seeks an experienced Lead Data Management to own a major Data Management and Data Governance transformation within a nationally significant organisation.

You will build, implement and embed capabilities across data ownership, metadata, quality, and governance, leading Data Stewards and Analysts, and working with programme leadership to deliver tangible improvements.

This 18-month contract requires travel to sites across the Netherlands and successful security clearance.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Data Management within complex organisations.
• Proven success building Data Management and Data Governance capabilities.
• Strong knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK.
• CDMP certification or willingness to obtain before starting.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel regularly to sites across the Netherlands.
• Ability to successfully complete the required security screening.

Lead Data Management | 18-Month Contract | Netherlands

Build the framework. Lead the team. Shape the future of enterprise Data Management.

We're looking for an experienced Lead Data Management professional to take ownership of a major Data Management and Data Governance transformation within a complex, nationally significant organisation in the Netherlands.

This isn't a position where you'll simply maintain existing frameworks or produce strategy documents.

You will be responsible for building, implementing and embedding Data Management capabilities that deliver real, lasting change.

The opportunity

Working closely with programme leadership, you'll lead a multidisciplinary team and play a pivotal role in establishing how data is governed, managed, owned and shared across the organisation.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing and operationalising enterprise Data Management and Data Governance frameworks.
• Leading Data Stewards, Data Management Advisors and Data/Process Analysts.
• Translating DAMA-DMBOK principles into practical standards, processes and governance structures.
• Establishing clear data ownership, accountability, metadata management and data quality practices.
• Influencing senior stakeholders and driving the adoption of sustainable Data Management capabilities.
• Delivering measurable improvements across the first 3-6 months.

What we're looking for:

• Proven success building and implementing Data Management and Data Governance capabilities.

Duration: 18 months

Commitment: 36 hours per week

Location: Netherlands - multiple sites, approximately 3-4 days on-site per week initially

Contract: Freelance / subcontracting or employed contract arrangement

Rate: Competitive, dependent on experience

Start: As soon as security clearance and onboarding requirements are completed
