Job summary

Schiphol Group is looking for a Data Engineer to join Team GreenWave, building data and software platforms powering passenger timeslot services at Schiphol.

You will design and maintain Python backend services and REST APIs, build data pipelines, and deploy on Azure with Kubernetes/OpenShift. You will collaborate with data scientists and engineers to productionize models and ensure reliable production systems.

English and Dutch communication is important; office presence at Schiphol is expected.

Qualifications

• Strong Python backend and REST API development experience.
• Experience with OpenShift and Kubernetes.
• Strong PostgreSQL and SQL skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, including Azure Database for PostgreSQL.
• Experience deploying and operating applications in production.
• Experience with production monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.
• Experience delivering data-intensive platforms and/or APIs consumed externally.
• Experience with CI/CD and git-based development workflows.
• Excellent communication skills in English and Dutch.

Responsibilities

As a Data Engineer within GreenWave, you will be responsible for the data and software platform powering passenger timeslot services. You will build and maintain backend applications, APIs, and data-intensive services that support operational decision making at Schiphol. Working closely with product owners, data scientists, and other engineers from other teams, you will translate business needs into reliable production-grade solutions.

• Design, develop and maintain Python backend services and REST APIs used by internal and external consumers.

• For this position you have:Strong Python backend and REST API development experience.

English is the primary language used within the development team, while Dutch is important for collaborating effectively with stakeholders across Schiphol.

• Besides the experience written above, it would be nice to have:Databricks.
• Celery, RabbitMQ, Redis or similar asynchronous processing technologies.
• Experience with highly available systems or operationally critical systems.
