Job summary

Harnham is seeking a Data Engineer to join a growing technology business at a pivotal stage in its data journey. You will help build a greenfield data platform, shape how data is modelled, consumed, and leveraged across the organisation, with significant ownership.

You will collaborate with architects and business teams to design end-to-end pipelines, develop a semantic data layer for analytics, and work with Azure-based solutions to enable downstream reporting and AI readiness.

Qualifications

  • Proven commercial experience in data engineering.
  • Strong SQL and experience with complex datasets.
  • Experience designing and maintaining ETL pipelines.
  • Exposure to Azure cloud technologies.
  • Bachelor's degree in a data-related subject.
  • Knowledge of semantic modelling or semantic layers.
  • Dutch language skills or willingness to learn Dutch.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain end-to-end data pipelines.
  • Model a semantic data layer for analytics and reporting.
  • Work with Azure-based data solutions and ETL processes.
  • Support dashboards and downstream analytics requirements.

This role sits within an evolving data function where collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement are highly valued. You will work closely with technical stakeholders and business teams to create scalable, long-term data solutions.

The Role

As a Data Engineer, you will help establish and develop a modern data platform and semantic data layer from the ground up.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing, building, and maintaining end-to-end data pipelines
  • Developing and modelling a semantic data layer for analytics and reporting
  • Working with Azure-based data solutions and ETL processes
  • Supporting dashboarding and downstream analytics requirements
  • Collaborating with architects and business stakeholders to understand data needsContributing to data engineering standards, tooling, and best practices
  • Helping shape the future direction of the data function and roadmap
  • Enabling data foundations that support future AI and advanced analytics capabilities

You will also bring a collaborative approach, enjoy sharing knowledge, and be comfortable working in a greenfield environment where you can influence both technology and process.

Your Skills & Experience
  • Strong commercial experience in Data Engineering
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with complex datasets
  • Experience designing and maintaining ETL pipelines
  • Exposure to Azure cloud technologies
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject such as Data Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or similar
