Job summary

Google’s Data Center Facilities Manager role oversees 24/7 operations at hyper-scale data centers. You will lead a large team, ensure server, storage and networking systems meet strict SLAs, and uphold safety and environmental standards.

Regular travel between metro sites and some regional/international travel up to 10% is expected, with on-call support for 24/7 operations. You’ll drive efficiency, cost optimization, and continuous improvement across global teams, while mentoring and growing

Qualifications

• 8 years of experience in data center operations or other relevant operational experience in non-DC industries.
• 5 years of experience managing technical teams and vendors in charge of operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and controls infrastructure and components.
• Ability to communicate in English and Dutch fluently to support client relationship management in this region.
• Ability to travel as needed.
• Driving license Category B.

Responsibilities

• Own campus operational budgets, forecast expenses, and manage budgets with focus on total cost of ownership (TCO).
• Meet stringent SLAs for uptime, efficiencies, and cost; oversee monitoring and response to excursions.
• Develop approaches to reduce operational costs and improve data center efficiency; consider environmental impact (WUE, PUE).
• Oversee data center performance issues and outages; implement repair protocols to minimize recovery time.
• Ensure regional and global teams follow project guidelines and uphold safety standards; drive a strong safety culture.

About The Job

The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and HVAC systems in the world. Facility Technicians at Google data centers operate, monitor and support physical facilities conditions. Some duties will include heating and cooling of air and water, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution and control and monitoring systems. You regularly help inspect, maintain and repair various data center systems such as piping and non-critical electrical or mechanical system components). You'll provide daily assistance to senior technicians as you read blueprints/schematics, conduct tours of systems and assess their working order.

You will develop creative approaches to reducing operational costs while improving overall data center efficiency. You ensure that environmental and safety standards are consistently met, identifying problems and making repairs quickly In emergency situations or abnormal conditions, you manage data center performance issues and outages to minimize the recovery time from failures.

As a Data Center Facilities Manager, you will lead and grow a large team overseeing 24/7 operations in our hyper-scale data centers. You will ensure our server, storage, and networking systems meet stringent service level agreements and availability goals, all while upholding the highest environmental and safety standards at scale. In this role, you will drive efficiency, continuous improvements, and initiatives to optimize costs and enhance overall data center performance, navigating both traditional and emergent issues. This role involves regular travel between metro area sites, some regional and international travel (up to 10%), and participation in an on-call rotation to support our 24/7 business.
