Job summary

Google Netherlands’ data center team seeks Facilities Technicians to operate, monitor and support electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems in its world‑class facilities. You will read blueprints and schematics, assist senior technicians, and participate in routine inspections to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Candidates should have 2 years of electrical experience, an associate degree or equivalent, Dutch language ability for day‑to‑day operations, and the capacity to lift up to 50

Early

Experience completing work as directed, and collaborating with teammates; developing knowledge of relevant concepts and processes.

• Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 2 years of Electrical experience (e.g., electrical testing equipment or electrical distribution) in an industrial or commercial environment.
• Ability to participate in material handling tasks such as lifting, carrying or moving up to 50 lbs (23 kg) of equipment, the required use of safety equipment such as limited weight bearing work platforms, ladders, step stools and personal protective equipment (PPE) like safety harnesses in accordance with safety and ergonomic guidelines and assessments.
• Ability to work non-standard hours and differing work rotations/shifts.
• Ability to communicate in Dutch to engage in day-to-date operations, and with colleagues.

Preferred qualifications:

• 2 years of experience in maintenance of electrical distribution systems or construction/technical environment or a related field.
  
• Experience in data centers, hospitals, or power plants.
  
• Knowledge of electrical systems used in a data center environment (e.g., Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units).
  
• Knowledge of meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting utilizing standard hand tools, digital metering, or calibration/diagnostic equipment.
  
• Ability to communicate with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on the data center systems.

As an advocate for best practices, you develop creative approaches to reducing operational costs while improving overall data center efficiency. You ensure that environmental and safety standards are consistently met, identifying problems and making repairs quickly. In emergency situations or abnormal conditions, you manage data center performance issues and outages to minimize the recovery time from failures.
As an Electrical Technician, you will ensure 24/7 reliability of our physical infrastructure. Your core duties involve operating, monitoring, and supporting Electrical systems critical to data center performance, including: High/Medium Voltage distribution, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), standby generators, and the power interfaces for mechanical cooling systems (HVAC/Chillers). You will regularly inspect, maintain, and repair these systems. • Inspect, maintain, and repair various data center systems.
• Provide daily assistance to technicians as you read blueprints/schematics/sequence of operations, conduct tours of systems, and assess their working order.
