Job summary

Google is seeking a Facilities Technician for its data center operations in the Netherlands. You will operate and monitor critical electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems, read schematics, and assist senior technicians to ensure continuous 24/7 reliability.

Responsibilities include maintaining safety standards, reducing operational costs, and supporting commissioning of new equipment. Dutch language ability is required for regional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or certified training in a related technical field.
  • 2 years of experience in developing, operating, maintaining, or troubleshooting control systems.
  • Experience in a critical operations environment.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours and shifts.
  • Ability to communicate in Dutch for day-to-day regional operations.

Responsibilities

  • Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in developing, operating, maintaining, or troubleshooting control systems of industrial facilities (including automation PLC).
  • Experience working in critical operations environment.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours and work rotations/shifts.
  • Ability to communicate in Dutch to engage in day-to-day operations and collaborate with colleagues in the region.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Driving license Category B.
  • Experience in maintenance of control systems in critical systems environment along with experience in execution/planning with manufacturers equipment and industry protocols, installation, commissioning, and operations.
  • Knowledge of electrical/mechanical/cooling systems used in a critical industries environment and of meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting utilizing standard hand tools, digital metering, or calibration/diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to to perform material handling (lifting/shifting) and work on platforms, ladders, and under raised floors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to prioritize work efficiently.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages.

Moving beyond general maintenance, your primary focus is the 'nervous system' of the data center: managing the Programmable Logic Controller (PLCs), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) interfaces, and critical alarm logic that control our power and cooling. You will provide high-level technical support by interpreting ladder logic and sequence of operations, troubleshooting control anomalies, and leading the commissioning and integration of new controls equipment. In this role, you ensure the facility’s logic systems operate with the same precision as the physical hardware.
