Job description

D8/D11 Authorised Technician required for a major Offshore Wind Farm based in the Netherlands.

Responsibilities

• Carry out electrical isolations to support endoscopic access to:
• Generators.
• Gearboxes (electrical interfaces).
• Yaw and pitch electrical systems.
• Control cabinets and sensors.
• Apply, test, and verify LOTO and earthing prior to inspection work.
• Confirm turbine electrical systems are in a safe state for borescope insertion and inspection.
• Support controlled energisation/de-energisation during staged inspections if required by the method statement.
• Coordinate with inspection engineers to confirm:
• Inspection scope and access points.
• Monitor electrical safety throughout the inspection window.
• Reinstate electrical systems post-inspection in line with site procedures.
• Operate under Electrical Safety Rules (ESR) and PTW systems.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to:
• Stored electrical energy.
• Induced voltage.
• Stop work authority if conditions deviate from RAMS.
• Issue and control electrical permits and isolation certificates.
• Maintain switching logs and handover records.
• Liaise with Control Room, Authorised Person (AP), and campaign leads.
• Perform mechanical and hydraulic isolations to enable safe endoscopic inspection of:
• Gearboxes.
• Main bearings.
• Hydraulic systems and lubrication circuits.
• Secure rotating equipment against movement (rotor lock, brake application).
• Depressurise and drain systems as required by inspection scope.
• Prepare turbine mechanical systems for inspection access:
• Remove and refit covers, plugs, and inspection ports.
• Ensure cleanliness and contamination control during borescope insertion.
• Control dropped object and stored energy risks during access activities.
• Restore mechanical systems post-inspection and verify operational readiness.
• Apply mechanical LOTO and energy dissipation procedures.
• Verify zero‑energy state prior to inspection.
• Coordinate with D8 to manage electrical/mechanical interfaces.
• Issue mechanical permits and isolation confirmations.
• Record inspection readiness and reinstatement status.
• Report defects, access issues, or deviations impacting the campaign.
• Support high‑volume, repeatable turbine inspections in line with campaign schedules.
• Ensure consistent application of RAMS across multiple assets.
• Participate in daily briefings and toolbox talks with inspection teams.
• Provide technical input on access limitations and turbine condition.
• Escalate non‑conformances, findings, or safety concerns immediately.

Requirements

• The contractor and the selected technicians should have extensive experience with turbine maintenance and inspections. Ideally the technician has previous leadership experience with maintenance and/or inspection activities.
• The inspector will have intimate knowledge of the SGRE D11 turbine or similar turbines. The minimum requirement is D8 turbine knowledge. This does not mean they need to have expertise on all parts of the turbine, but they should be intimately familiar with the layout of the turbine and know where to look for problems.
• The inspector will be acting as the Employer's representative and thus can lead the team and execute the inspection scope.
• The inspector would ideally have operational knowledge (in addition to familiarity of the layout) of the D8 turbine and be capable of identifying frequent problem areas and can incorporate lessons learned from previous inspections on D11 or similar platforms.
• Proof of completion of GWO courses/requirements.
• Knowledge of requisite safety rules and regulations to ensure safe working environment especially those related to SGRE safe system of work.
