Senior Cyber Security Specialist | Amsterdam

Salary indication: €6,500 – €7,300 gross per month, excluding holiday allowance and pension

Start date: 1 July 2026

Duration: 12 months with intention to extend when there is mutual enthusiasm

Workload: 36 hours per week

Contract type: Secondment

For a large Dutch financial institution, we are looking for an experienced Senior Cyber Security Specialist to join a central Cyber Security domain within IT & Security.

This assignment is offered through a secondment arrangement and is focused on strengthening the strategic direction of DevOps Security and Issue Management. The role combines cyber security expertise, strategic thinking and stakeholder management in a highly regulated environment.

This is not a people management position. Instead, you will act as a senior subject matter expert and strategic sparring partner to management, helping shape the future direction of security within the organisation.

As Senior Cyber Security Strategic Lead, you will be responsible for raising both the strategic and technical maturity of the DevOps Security and Issue Management domains. You will work closely with management, architects, engineers and risk stakeholders to define long-term direction, improve security maturity and drive security‑by‑design across the organisation.

You will help ensure that security considerations are embedded early in the software development lifecycle and that technology risks are effectively managed through structured issue management and remediation processes.

Responsibilities

• Defining and maintaining a three-year DevOps Security and Issue Management vision and roadmap
• Acting as a strategic sparring partner to management on cyber security, technology risk and organisational priorities
• Increasing security maturity across the organisation through strategic initiatives and practical improvements
• Driving security‑by‑design principles within DevOps environments
• Connecting cyber security, architecture, risk management and software engineering practices
• Raising the technical discussion level within the teams and acting as a recognised technical authority
• Managing and prioritising strategic team backlogs
• Providing strategic insights and recommendations that support decision‑making at management level
• Working closely with stakeholders across technology, risk, security and business domains

Profile

• Approximately 10 years of experience within Cyber Security, IT, Risk Management or Banking
• Deep understanding of DevOps Security, application security and platform security
• Strong ability to connect technology risk, architecture and developer behaviour
• Proven experience defining and communicating long-term security strategies and roadmaps
• Ability to translate complex cyber security risks into clear business language
• Strong stakeholder management skills within complex enterprise environments
• Experience influencing without formal authority
• Application development experience and understanding of modern software delivery practices
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Professional proficiency in English
• Dutch language skills are preferred
