About the Opportunity
We are urgently seeking an experienced Customs Process Administrator (Customs Declarant) to join a dynamic customs operations team in Rotterdam. This role is ideal for a customs professional with hands-on experience managing import, export, transit (T1), and NVWA-related shipments.
This is initially a temporary position with strong potential for extension or permanent employment based on performance and business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit accurate import, export, and transit (T1) customs declarations.
- Handle customs processes related to NVWA-controlled goods and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Review shipping documentation, commercial invoices, certificates, and customs paperwork.
- Ensure compliance with Dutch and EU customs regulations and procedures.
- Coordinate customs clearance activities and resolve customs-related issues promptly.
- Liaise with customers, customs authorities, carriers, and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate customs records, reports, and filing systems.
- Support customs brokerage and financial customs processes.
- Contribute to process improvements and customs compliance initiatives.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of all customs activities while meeting operational deadlines.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Customs Declarant / Customs Process Administrator.
- Strong knowledge of Dutch and EU customs legislation.
- Experience handling import, export, T1 transit movements, and NVWA shipments.
- Familiarity with customs declaration software and customs systems.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Excellent attention to detail and administrative skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Team-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Fluency in English; Dutch language skills are highly advantageous.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with customs clearance of food products, fresh produce, veterinary, or regulated goods.
- Relevant customs certifications or professional qualifications.
- Previous experience working in logistics, freight forwarding, or customs brokerage environments.
