Job summary

Green Energy Storage B.V. in Breda is seeking a Contracts & Procurement Manager to take day-to-day contractual and commercial responsibility for large BESS projects.

You will manage contracts with Tier-1 BESS integrators and BoP contractors, ensure milestone delivery, and lead competitive bidding processes. You will collaborate with project managers and engineering teams, drive procurement strategies, and build commercial guidelines for future projects.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in EPC contract, claims, negotiations and project procurement.
• Proven track record of preparing scopes of work, running RFIs/RFPs, evaluating bids and negotiating supplier/contractor packages.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Law, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
• Fluent in English; other languages are a plus.
• Willingness to travel between sites, suppliers and contractors.

With Vopak and the BESS developer Green Energy Storage joining forces, we’re accelerating the energy transition by deploying utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across the Netherlands and internationally. In this position, you will be employed directly by Green Energy Storage B.V. (GES) and based at our BESS headquarters in Breda.

What will you do?

As Contracts & Procurement Manager you will take day-to-day contractual and commercial responsibility for our BESS projects, including two of the largest sites currently under construction in the Netherlands.

Your focus is balanced between assertive contract management and targeted (project) procurement and tendering. You will actively manage contracts with Tier-1 BESS integrators, Balance of Plant (BoP) contractors, and high-voltage specialists, ensuring milestone delivery, safeguarding cost certainty, and resolving variations collaboratively. At the same time, you will lead RFPs and competitive bidding processes for additional work packages, ranging from site O&M services to framework agreements for engineering, factory audits, and quality inspections.

What does your day look like?

Operating closely with Project managers, engineering, and on-site construction teams, your key responsibilities include:

• Manage the day-to-day contractual aspects on our BESS construction projects. Oversee formal contractual correspondence, verify progress milestones, track delay-prevention measures, and ensure contractor compliance.
• Review, evaluate, and negotiate variation requests, contractor claims, and schedule adjustments in close coordination with the Project Team, protecting project value and preventing unnecessary disputes.
• Develop and lead RFPs/RFQs for various work packages and scopes, conduct pre-qualifications and lead commercial evaluation and contract finalization.
• Translate lessons learned into repeatable tools, commercial guidelines, and procurement templates for the next projects.

You have a solid commercial or contracting foundation, common sense, and the drive to roll up your sleeves in a fast-paced project environment. You communicate clearly, stay calm when commercial issues arise on site, and enjoy working closely with technical colleagues.

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in (EPC) contract and claims management, negotiations and project procurement within (project financed) CapEx-intensive construction projects.
• Proven track record of preparing scopes of work, running RFIs/RFPs, evaluating commercial bids, and negotiating supplier/contractor packages.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Law, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
• Fluent in English. Command of other languages are naturally a plus.
• Willingness to travel between sites, suppliers and contractors.
