Job summary

PaymentGenes Consultancy in Amsterdam is offering a Consultancy & Product Management Internship for H2 2026. You will combine ownership of a dedicated development project with hands-on exposure to the work of our consultants.

You will spend at least 50% on a product or proposition development project and up to 50% supporting ongoing projects. You will research markets, analyze trends, and help prepare client-ready deliverables, with opportunities to learn AI and automation in payments.

Qualifications

• You are enrolled in a university Master’s degree, ideally in Business, Economics, Finance or a related field.
• Available for 5–6 months starting October 2026.
• Available for 36–40 hours per week.
• Fluent in English with excellent writing and communication skills; Dutch is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead a dedicated development project with exposure to consultants.
• Spend at least 50% of time on a product or proposition development project, e.g., market research, trend analysis, data insights, reports and pitches.
• Develop and implement new features for products, possibly via data sources integration and AI/automation tools.
• Support consultants and wider business on ongoing projects and initiatives, including market research and client-ready deliverables.

Consultancy & Product Management Internship

Do you want to learn about Payments & FinTech? Do you enjoy solving complex problems, working with data and technology, and building relationships? Do you have a commercial mindset and an interest in how AI and new technologies are changing the payments industry? Then this could be the internship for you.

We are looking for a Consultancy & Product Management Intern to join our team in our Amsterdam office for H2 2026.

What your days will look like

As a Consultancy & Product Management Intern at PaymentGenes Consultancy, you will combine ownership of a dedicated development project with hands‑on exposure to the work of our consultants.

You will spend at least 50% of your time on a dedicated product or proposition development project, which could entail:

• Conducting market, competitor and potential client research
• Analysing payments trends, emerging technologies, new market players and regulatory developments
• Working with data to identify insights and translate them into actionable recommendations
• Drafting reports, articles, presentations and recommendation papers
• Developing and implementing new features for one of our products, for example by integrating new data sources into our data products
• Using AI, automation and other digital tools to improve internal or commercial processes
• Developing commercial materials such as pitches, propositions or landing‑page content
• Testing new ideas and helping translate them into scalable products or services

The topic of your dedicated project will be disclosed during the interview process and is likely to revolve around areas such as AI and automation, payment ecosystem intelligence, stablecoins and digital assets, payments regulation, agentic commerce or other emerging payments trends and developments.

You will spend up to 50% of your time supporting our consultants and wider business on ongoing projects and initiatives. This can include:

• Market and competitor research
• Quantitative and qualitative analysis
• Payment ecosystem and company mapping
• Preparing client‑ready presentations and other deliverables
• Supporting proposition development and selected business development initiatives
• Contributing to internal strategic projects

This gives you the opportunity to experience different aspects of consulting while taking real ownership of your own project.

Profile

You are an open and ambitious person with a positive attitude who enjoys taking on new challenges. You combine analytical thinking with a commercial mindset and enjoy connecting with people.

You are curious about technology and comfortable experimenting with AI, automation and new digital tools. You do not need to be a developer, but you are willing to experiment with light coding, no‑code toolings and new ways of working.

You take responsibility for your projects and tasks, are comfortable asking questions and make sure you deliver high‑quality results on time.

For this internship, it is important that:

• You are enrolled in a university Master’s degree, ideally in Business, Economics, Finance or a related field
• You are available for 5–6 months, starting in October 2026
• You are available for 36–40 hours per week
• You are fluent in English and have excellent writing and communication skills; Dutch is a plus
• You have strong analytical skills, demonstrated through your academic results and/or previous experience
• You are tech‑savvy and eager to experiment with new technologies, particularly AI and automation
• You are based in Amsterdam or nearby
• You are eager to learn about consulting, payments and FinTech
• You are self‑motivated, proactive and willing to go the extra mile
• You are a natural relationship builder and team player who values strong relationships with colleagues

Bonus points

if you have experience working with one or more of the following: AI tools and workflows, web scraping, no-code/low-code automation, web‑building applications, data analysis tools or survey tools.
