Job summary

Dornan, a Turner Company, is seeking a Commissioning Manager to lead mechanical and electrical commissioning at the hyperscale data centre in Groningen. You will report to the Project Director and oversee a team of commissioning engineers and technicians, coordinating with clients, architects, and engineers to ensure on-time delivery.

Responsibilities include developing commissioning plans, maintaining documentation, conducting tests, and delivering handover-ready results while upholding safety

Qualifications

• Degree or trade qualification in mechanical or electrical discipline.
• Commissioning certification desirable.
• Proficient IT skills including MS Office and BIM 360.
• 2 years' experience in a similar management role.
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical industry standards and regulations.
• Experience with testing procedures and commissioning methods.
• Ability to conduct safety risk assessments and implement safety measures.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

• Oversee the preparation and maintenance of commissioning documentation, including procedures, checklists, and reports.
• Liaise with vendors and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of equipment and materials for commissioning.
• Lead a team of commissioning engineers and technicians, assigning tasks and guiding the team.
• Implement quality control measures to meet project specifications and guidelines.
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with commissioning activities, such as delays and technical issues.
• Oversee execution of functional testing, performance testing and validation.
• Serve as primary point of contact for client during commissioning and provide progress updates.
• Prepare comprehensive commissioning reports summarising testing results.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and codes.
• Promote a safe site culture and adhere to safety protocols.
• Provide ongoing support to operations and maintenance teams after handover.

Job description

At Dornan/ a Turner Company, we are currently recruiting for a Commissioning Manager to work on our hyperscale data centre in Groningen.

Dornan are a leading Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation contractor with projects in Ireland, Europe and the UK.

Reporting to the Project Director, the Commissioning Manager will communicate project progress to key stakeholders, such as the client, architects and engineers. In addition, the Commissioning Manager will supervising and coordinating Mechanical commissioning activities at a job site including that of its sub-contractors and direct labour.

Your day to day will include:

• Develop commissioning plans and schedules in coordination with project management, engineering, and construction teams.
• Oversee the preparation and maintenance of all commissioning related documentation, including procedures, checklists, and reports.
• Liaise with vendors and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of equipment and materials necessary for commissioning activities.
• Lead a team of commissioning engineers and technicians, assigning tasks and providing guidance to ensure the successful completion of commissioning activities.
• Implement quality control measures to ensure that commissioning activities meet project specifications and guideline.
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with commissioning activities, such as schedule delays and technical issues.
• Oversee the execution of functional testing, performance testing and validation to ensure functionality of systems and equipment.
• Serve as primary point of contact for client during the commissioning phase, providing regular updated on progress and addressing any concerns.
• Prepare comprehensive commissioning reports summarizing results of testing activities.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards and codes throughout the commissioning process.
• Promote a safe culture of site and adhere to safety protocols and procedures during the commissioning activities.
• Provide ongoing support to operations and maintenance teams as need following project handover.

What we are looking for:

• Degree or Trade qualified in a Mechanical or Electrical discipline.
• Commissioning certification would be desirable.
• Excellent IT Skills in MS Office Suite and BIM 360 would be an advantage
• 2 years' experience in a similar role at management level
• Detailed knowledge of the Mechanical and Electrical industry standards, codes, and regulations.
• Knowledge of various testing procedures, methodologies, and tools used in the commissioning process.
• Skills in troubleshooting, documenting, and resolving issues encountered during commissioning phase.
• Knowledge of safety standards and regulations relevant to the commissioning activities.
• Ability to conduct safety risk assessments and implement safety measures during commissioning.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Proficiency in preparing detailed reports, manuals, and documentation for handover to operations team.
