Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead project Commercial Team and support construction team.
  • Ensure compliance with contract obligations.
  • Identify potential commercial risks and report to management.
  • Compile monthly progress applications accurately.
  • Manage subcontractor accounts through all stages.
  • Manage subcontractor accounts from initial award to interim valuation, variations, and final account.
  • Forecast turnover and cash flow of the projects.
  • Review and commercially manage all projects for accurate reporting.
  • Identify, analyse, and report on trends within the Business & Projects.
  • Provide data and analysis of issues and risks as required by Management.
  • Improve and implement best practice commercial processes and budgeting.

Overview

Commercial Lead role at Mercury. Mercury is seeking an experienced Commercial Lead to join our site team on a large Data Centre construction project. The successful candidate will have a strong track record in cost management and quantity surveying, with experience managing commercial aspects of large-scale construction projects.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the project Commercial Team and provide support to the construction team on all commercial and quantity surveying functions.
  • Ensure compliance with contract obligations and provide advice and monitoring of same to the construction team.
  • Identify potential commercial risks and ensure prompt reporting to management.
  • Compile monthly progress applications and ensure they include accurate remeasurement, site variations, dayworks or claims.
  • Procurement – operational procurement activity and contract support, in conjunction with the Procurement Department.
  • Manage subcontractor accounts from initial award to interim valuation, variations, and final account.
  • Manage and forecast turnover and cash flow of the projects.
  • Review and commercially manage all projects to ensure accurate and reliable reporting.
  • Identify, analyse, and report on trends within the Business & Projects.
  • Provide data and analysis of issues and risks as required by Management.
  • Improve and implement best practice commercial processes and accurate budgeting.
  • Lead, support, and coach commercial team members in best practice quantity surveying and cost management methods.
  • Review all incoming correspondence from Employers, Design Team and/or subcontractors to identify contractually critical items and initiate replies.
  • Ensure the Construction Team adheres to all Contractual Requirements and provide advice and monitoring of same.
  • Ensure reporting is in line with Group Policies and highlight exceptions to Management.
  • All other duties associated with this role.
Essential Criteria
  • Relevant third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent (e.g. engineering) combined with commercial experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience post-qualification with General Contractor experience.
  • Ability to work both individually and as part of a team.
  • Excellent IT Skills (SAP experience is an advantage).
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Must have excellent English language skills.
Desirable Criteria
  • Data centre experience.
  • CSA and MEP experience.
