Job summary

CNN Digital Site Reliability Engineering is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to help expand the positive impact across CNN's engineering teams. The CMS powers CNN's global journalism and new products, with cloud-native architecture and automation driving reliability and efficiency.

You will work with senior engineers to deploy, monitor, and maintain applications and infrastructure, build CI/CD pipelines, and advance cloud security and cost optimization across AWS services.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 2+ years of relevant experience required.
• 2+ years in DevOps/SRE or related roles, with containers and cloud exposure.
• Experience with CI/CD concepts and tools, automation, and IaC workflows.
• Familiarity with AWS services, ECS/EKS, and container orchestration tooling.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing cloud infrastructure with CloudFormation and Terraform.
• Support automation through Bash and Python scripting.
• Maintain production and lower environments through updates and troubleshooting.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, CodePipeline and CodeBuild.
• Monitor and maintain AWS services (RDS, ECS, EKS, Fargate, SQS, Redis, OpenSearch).
• Apply best practices in cloud security, cost optimization, and reliability.
