Job summary

dsm-firmenich is seeking a Cloud Engineer for their Science Foundation Squad in Delft, the Netherlands. In this role, you will design and manage AWS cloud infrastructure, automate cloud deployments, and work closely with engineers to translate requirements into scalable solutions.

Job title: Cloud Engineer (Science Foundation Squad)

Location: Delft, the Netherlands

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure using AWS CDK and other infrastructure‑as‑code tools
• Automate cloud deployments and operations to ensure scalability, security, and efficiency
• Collaborate with engineers and researchers to translate requirements into scalable cloud solutions
• Industrialize existing solutions while promoting and applying cloud best practices
• Monitor, optimize, and ensure cloud performance, security, and cost efficiency
• Support CI/CD pipelines, cloud‑native development workflows, and maintain clear documentation of architectures and best practices

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience with AWS services (e.g., ECS, EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, IAM)
• Strong experience with infrastructure‑as‑code, including AWS CDK (Terraform is a plus)
• Proficiency in Python or another programming language for cloud automation and development
• Solid understanding of cloud architecture, security, networking, and DevOps best practices
• Experience working in collaborative environments with engineers, researchers, and product teams
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts; experience with Azure, hybrid cloud, or data/ML workflows is a plus
