Job title: Cloud Engineer (Science Foundation Squad)
Location: Delft, the Netherlands
Key responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure using AWS CDK and other infrastructure‑as‑code tools
- Automate cloud deployments and operations to ensure scalability, security, and efficiency
- Collaborate with engineers and researchers to translate requirements into scalable cloud solutions
- Industrialize existing solutions while promoting and applying cloud best practices
- Monitor, optimize, and ensure cloud performance, security, and cost efficiency
- Support CI/CD pipelines, cloud‑native development workflows, and maintain clear documentation of architectures and best practices

Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience with AWS services (e.g., ECS, EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, IAM)
- Strong experience with infrastructure‑as‑code, including AWS CDK (Terraform is a plus)
- Proficiency in Python or another programming language for cloud automation and development
- Solid understanding of cloud architecture, security, networking, and DevOps best practices
- Experience working in collaborative environments with engineers, researchers, and product teams
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts; experience with Azure, hybrid cloud, or data/ML workflows is a plus
